ローマ帝国でコンスタンティウス2世の治世に発行されたヌムス青銅貨。コンスタンティウス2世は、大帝コンスタンティヌス1世と彼の2番目の妻ファウスタとの間に生まれた次男。キリスト教のアリウス派を支持するキリスト教徒だったことで知られる。在位期間はこの時代の皇帝にして比較的長期に亘った。最期は、帝国西方の軍団の反乱で縁戚ユリアヌスが皇帝に担ぎ上げられたことを受け、その討伐に向かうが、開戦前にアシア属州で病没する。
発行都市のテッサロニカは、ローマ帝国のマケドニア属州に存在した都市。属州都として繁栄した都市だった。本作の裏側の兵士たちの下部に造幣地を示すミントマークが打たれている。また、下記のラテン語銘文が打たれている。

ヌムスとはこの時代の額面不詳の小額面貨幣全般を指す言葉である。AE13というふうに素材と直径を合わせた表記もされる。AE（AEREVS）はラテン語で銅・青銅・黄銅等の総称で、数値の13はミリ単位の直径を示している。これらの貨幣は史料に具体的な額面の記載がなく、それゆえ、学術的に区分するために便宜上このような表記方法が採られている。
本作は成分構成としては銅の割合が88％、残りは錫、微量の鉛で形成されている。配合の割合から青銅と呼ばれる素材でできている。現在では錆て焦げ茶色を帯びているが、発行当時は日本の5円玉のような鈍い金色を放っていた。
