フランス革命200周年を記念して発行された銀メダル。1枚31.0gで総重量248.4gの8枚セット。バスティーユ襲撃、ルイ16世、マリー＝アントワネット、ルイ17世、ロベスピエール、ダントン、ルイ＝フィリップ・エガリテ、ナポレオンの戴冠式が描かれている。
1789年にパリの監獄バスティーユが襲撃され、フランス革命が勃発した。ルイ16世は家族と共に王妃マリー＝アントワネットの出身地オーストリアへの亡命を図るも失敗。ヴァレンヌ逃亡事件として世間を騒がせ、王家がフランス国民を見捨てたとして大非難を浴びた。信用を失墜したルイ16世とマリー＝アントワネットは処刑、その息子ルイ17世は幽閉されて病没した。この時、ルイ16世の縁戚ルイ＝フィリップ・エガリテは死刑に一票を投じており、自身が王として君臨することを密かに目論んでいた。だが、彼も革命の波に飲まれ、処刑に追い込まれる。国民に寄り添う姿勢だったロベスピエールは、王政が廃止されると権力を握り、フランスの再興に着手する。だが、権力を握ると次第に変貌していき、同志ダントンを処刑。最期は自らも処刑に追い込まれた。ロベスピエール亡き後、ナポレオンが台頭し、彼が皇帝として君臨することで、革命に終止符が打たれた。
